Federal judge orders Kilmar Abrego Garcia released from ICE custody

A federal judge ordered the U.S. government to release Kilmar Abrego Garcia from custody on Thursday.

"Since Abrego Garcia’s return from wrongful detention in El Salvador, he has been re-detained, again without lawful authority," a memorandum opinion from U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis declares. "For this reason, the Court will GRANT Abrego Garcia’s Petition for immediate release from ICE custody."
