Israel and Hamas both announce hostage deal

Israel and Hamas have formally agreed to a hostage deal, both the Israeli government and Hamas announced Tuesday night, leading Hamas to release about 50 women and children — including three Americans — for 150 Palestinian people let go from Israeli prisons. There will also be a 4- to 5-day fighting pause.

All elements of the deal go into effect 24 hours after the announcement, a senior U.S. administration official said.
